I took my love of color from my previous career as a painter and applied it to knitting using the technique of stranding to produce beautiful patterns. I especially like taking international ethnic motifs and translating them into knitted garments. I love the feel of the yarn passing through my fingers and when I'm done, there's a beautiful, warm garment for someone special. Teaching others to knit these seemingly complex and colorful patterns is very fulfilling to me. I travel whenever I can, always seeking out the local handwork traditions for inspiration. My current passion is Anatolian textiles and I travel to Turkey to collect antiques including kilims, embroidery and knitted items. Join me on my textile tour!
I teach classes in stranded knitting, designing your own patterns, de-mystifying color theory and traditional Turkish motifs. I also co-lead textiles trips to Turkey in the Spring and Fall. I am available to travel to your location to teach workshops and can tailor them to your particular interests. I have taught at the Taos Wool Festival and several knitting stores in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
