My history of sewing goes back to when I was 5, or so, years old. Ken needed clothes, Barbie had plenty. Since we couldn't afford clothes for Ken, my mom told me I would have to make them. She showed me how to sew on snaps, hooks and eyes and off I went. I have sewn clothes all my life, but never felt complete satisfaction with the process. Several years ago I became interested in quilts and fiber arts. I occasionally create items with traditional piecing, but my heart is with art quilts, mixed media and hand dyeing fabrics. Over the past few years I have learned more and more about painting and dyeing fabric and incorporating other mixed media techniques. I enjoy dyeing fabric so much I have expanded my business to sell hand dyed cotton fabric. In my experimenting I have also grown a passion with hand dyed and hand painted cheesecloth and hand dyed threads. You can find all of these items, plus more in my Etsy and Art Fire shops.
My art quilts range from floral, to figurative, to abstract. Recently, I have found that I am more focused when working in a series, learning new techniques and expanding my vision. In 2012 my plan is to focus on abstract art quilts with an emphasis on geometrical shapes.
Information regarding the workshops I teach can be found on my blog.
