Galería Octágono has Silvia in textiles, and Rich in rustic wood, and both of them welcome visitors into their home, gallery, and B&B.
Sil is a textile designer and creator and educator. She runs a collective of women and youngsters (the Cerro Danta Collective), with the purpose of providing educational and income opportunities to the community. Silvia is also a textile artist who has exhibited in museums and galleries, both nationally and internationally. She also broadcasts a weekly cultural show on national radio, and acts as Latin American/Caribbean Rep for Surface Design Association—a textile organization presently expanding its international reach.
Rich is originally from Colorado, USA, and later became a Costa Rican citizen. He's a geographer, cartographer, land surveyor, and has all kinds of experience on Costa Rican trail&trek situations. Hiking is his passion, and he has both the patience of a saint and the ability to guide in athletic outings. His wood working projects are spread all over the Octágono compound—from functional to artistic cypress pieces available for sale.
