I thrive on the unpredictability of creative process, and find manipulating the surface with paint, water, heat or thread brings out the unexpected. My inclination to feel the cloth beneath my fingers and work slowly has nudged me back to re-exploring hand work, like embroidery, which I add to the quilts. The layering of all these elements stretches the cloth’s expressive potential and in turn, my creative vision. My imagery is inspired by natural forces and explores interplay between movement and stillness. Being present in the moment allows the space for inspiration to enter. For me, creativity and meditation are practices that go hand in hand. Both nourish my journey of discovery. In turn, I delight in sharing with others what I have learned so that they, too, may open to their unique creative voice.
