The waterfall measures 30" x 40" and is fused on raw edged applique. It has been sprayed with an acrylic spray to secure the tiny pieces of fabrics. It is also treated with a UV protector from sun damage.
The waterfall is made using 1/2" strips of cotton fabrics. They are fused to a fusible tricot backing and the edges are overlapped. This process is called raw edged applique.
The white fabric at the bottom is a glitter fabric and it makes the water look misty.
I made this after the Virginia Tech tragedy. While making the art, I felt a sense of calmness and peace, which was therapeutic in such a tragic loss.
