Product Description

I have really been enjoying orange and pink together! This OOAK piece measures 9 x 22. The fabrics used are 100% cotton recycled clothing from Good Will. They started out as shirts and pants. I am trying to be more eco conscious and haved decided not to buy a lot of commercial fabrics for my work. Several embroidery stitches were used in this piece such as French knots, couching, satin stitch, roman stitch and blanket stitch. I also did quite a bit of kantha stitching. Kantha is an Indian stitch that was primarily used for mending clothing in India. It is similar to the Japanese sashiko stitching. I was very pleased with how textured this piece turned out to be. I think the raw edge applique gives it an organic quality. The embroidery comes with a sleeve sewn onto the back and a dowel rod for hanging.
