Flower Fields, 2010. This is one of my large-scale tapestries and involves fiber art techniques that are a joy. A wet-felted wool foundation is hand made from the softest merino wool. The landscape is then needle felted by hand on top of that wool foundation, and intricate details are hand embroidered using wool crewel needlework. I have used a floating frame technique for these tapestries without glass, and I selected a classic silver metal gallery frame. Tapestry is 18"x15" and entire piece is 20"x16". This is a good example of what a special commission piece using your photo as inspiration could become!
