The sun, the moon and some indigo embroidered wall hanging

Product Description

This piece is different than some of my other work but I am feeling a change coming and this fits in somehow. The background fabric is two pieces of indigo from Japan and two pieces of batik from Africa. There is a weaving on one of the blocks that was inspired by Jude Hill's work. The hand dyed indigo moon came from Glennis Dolce of Shibori Girl Studios. The word inspire was done by sun printing. The sun is made of long strips of silk dupioni that were made into cording. The piece measures 12 x 12. Embroidery stitches include French knots, satin stitch, couching, running stitch with Kantha stitching on the two smaller batiks. I like the organic quality the raw edging gives to the piece. The embroidery comes with a sleeve sewn onto the back and a dowel rod for hanging.
