I love creating! My brain always seems to be working on something and the thrill of successfully interpreting an idea into art is what makes this journey a fulfilling one.
My creative journey has taken different paths along the way. I started quilting in the mid 1990s and it wasn’t long before I decided that traditional quilting wasn’t quite my thing. When I discovered art quilting and mixed media work, I was very intrigued and started learning all I could and trying out all kinds of techniques. Art quilting became my passion and I continue to create art quilts today. Along with creating art quilts, I also make and sell unique, one-of-a-kind quilted handbags and totes and most recently, I’ve started weaving and enjoy making scarves, kitchen towels, placemats and table runners.
Another creative passion I have is painting. I love to paint on both fabric and paper surfaces. From painting and art quilting, I’ve ventured into designing. I’ve created quilt and handbag patterns and I’ve created a line of stencils and Thermofax screens.
My most recent creative journey is taking me down the road to surface pattern design. I’m soaking up all I can to learn all about this exciting field. I am currently pursuing this path with the goal to eventually have my designs licensed for use on textiles, home decor, paper goods, stationery, and more.
I love color and texture. My art quilts contain these elements along with my favorite subjects–cats, flowers, birds, and female figures. Layers of design and color add intrigue and mystery.
