Dana Blair is taking the experience she has had with Threads of Peru to a new, sustainable social enterprise: Pichinku naturally dyed yarns. Her Kickstarter campaign funded the initial phase and yarns are expected to hit the market by October 2017.
The Soviet annexation of the Crimea has displaced many, including Elena Ulyanova, who has chosen relocation from the Ukraine to Poland in order to continue as a textile artist. As one of our members, we support her appeal for funds to establish a new studio in Gdansk.
Our modern botanical alchemists study how local dyes can be used on fabric, yarn, and threads. Featured artists represent US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. TAFA has many, many members working with both botanical and commercial dyes. This post just points to a few wonderful projects!
