Growing up on a sheep property in South Australia instilled my love of working with wool. Using wool, I create sculptural felted vessels and I also combine the felt in other works including my machine embroidery pictures. My work is inspired by the landscape but the imagery manifests itself in an abstract way. I exhibit my work regularly in Australia and internationally and have won many awards. I have works in public and private collections.
“The creative pathway is a search for meaning and insight into ourselves.” My textile practice revolves around free flowing design and bright, vibrant colours. This approach is dispersed into different areas including silk painting, dyeing fabrics, machine embroidery and felting.
I exhibit my work in galleries regularly and have won prizes, including the Brisbane Textile recycled award, the Royal Sydney arts and crafts for the last 5 years. My work has been selected for the biannual “World of Threads Festival” in Oakville, Canada 2014, 2012, the Broken Hill Outback Art prize the last 2 years and many other Australia exhibitions.
