I created my first, original, fiber art quilt in 2009, responding to a juried gallery call. Much to my amazement my art was accepted AND it sold. The experience enticed me into the world of fiber artists, which, for the past 7 years, continues to challenge, excite, frustrate, educate and open new doors of creativity.

I do not have a background in art, other than being a child of creative parents. My mother sewed, painted and crafted while raising 4 children. My father constructed homes, relying on my mother’s innovative eye. I earned my undergraduate BS degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse for many years using my leisure time to learn to quilt, knit, crochet, macramé and write in calligraphy, all of which I draw on now to make contemporary art quilts.

My work doesn’t conform to one voice. Rather, I am inspired to manipulate surface design using innovative piecing, mark making with dyes and acrylics, thread painting, applying recycled materials onto the surface. I continue to explore use of line and shape, texture and color.

I am a member of Studio Arts Quilt Associates, International Quilt Association and American Quilt Society. I have been accepted in national and international exhibitions, galleries and museums. My art quilts have been published in various books and catalogs. “Urban Cathedral”  (first piece on this page) was the cover art for Quilt Visions Museum 2016 Breakout Exhibition, and is now in the permanent collection at Visions Art Museum.
