Maggie Dillon is a textile/fiber artist, working exclusively in batik fabric. Maggie uses photographic references to create representational portraits in fiber.
I love the feel, depth of color, even the smell of batik fabric and the ability to lose myself piecing my works with tiny pins going every which way. Working with hand-dyed batiks give results that can be challenging and pleasantly unpredictable.
I work to bring back a calm moment that is meaningful and ordinary at the same time. Look at a still, candid moment and imagine what is taking place. You can almost add your own story to the images like characters in a book.
