Quilting by the Lake (QBL) began in 1981 as a four-day quilting conference in Cazenovia, NY, and has grown into a two-week, nationally and internationally recognized quilting event, nicknamed QBL. Located on the SUNY campus in Morrisville, NY since 1990, QBL made the move to its current location, Onondaga Community College, in Syracuse, NY in 2009. QBL offers classes & workshops, lectures, a quilt show, and merchant mall to a wide array of students with diverse interests and multiple skill levels. QBL is owned and operated by the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, a not-for-profit, multi-arts center in Auburn, NY.
The atmosphere at QBL is friendly and casual, and students enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a college campus. Classes & workshops are held in two-, three-, and five-day formats, with two days off between sessions. Conference fees include workshops, lectures, quilt show, merchant mall, and receptions. Commuter students are welcome to take part in all evening programs. Join other quilters for 2-10 days of quilting, creativity and camaraderie.
“As a first year ‘newbie,’ I was very impressed by the conference. The lectures were inspiring, the food was wonderful, time spent with
other quilters was invaluable.”
