I’m a fibre artist living and working in Halifax NS. I’ve always had a love of wool and knitting and overheard a conversation at my local yarn shop about a technique called Nuno felting. I spent the next month consuming all media about this technique and finally felt confident enough to try it out. I was hooked! The problem arose when I discovered I had more beautiful colored wool and not enough colored silk. That lead to more videos on dyeing. Soon I was dyeing not only silks, but also my rovings. Flash forward a couple of years and I’m now incorporating wet and Nuno felting into vases, bowls, clothing and wall hangings.
I take my inspiration from the beauty of the East Coast – its rugged coastline and the beautiful fall foliage of our forests. I’ve started to incorporate pieces of driftwood into my felted work as well as dried leaves and berries for the natural dyeing that I do. I try to put a bit of the Maritimes into all of my pieces.
For information on commissions, or pieces that are on my website, please contact me. I’m also interested in teaching felting – from scarves to vases – I can design a class that will work for any audience.
