This handwoven woman’s poncho comes to us from Threads of Peru, a not-for-profit social enterprise. Its mission is to connect the world to handmade treasures of the Andes, helping to strengthen ancient craft techniques and empower artisans.
The Chaska Alpaca Poncho is an innovative, modern take on an ancient garment: the traditional woven poncho has been keeping the inhabitants of the Andean highlands warm for centuries. Woven in luxuriously soft, undyed black alpaca fibre, this statement-making women’s poncho is an elegant touch of Peru for your winter wardrobe!
The Chaska Alpaca Poncho features stunning, intricately woven designs representative of the community where it was made, Chaullacocha, at a breathtaking 4,200 metres (13, 800 feet)! Each thread lovingly selected by the hands of Demesia Sinchi Echame, a young mother of 3 children, the skill and pride in weaving has been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years.
Chaska is the predominant design in the weaving, the Andean star, and also, coincidentally, the name of our gorgeous model, Chaska.

The materials in this change purse are 100% natural – locally sourced sheep’s wool, hand-spun on a drop-spindle, and dyed with natural dyes. This product is finished with cotton lining and a zipper closure.
