Walking the Land by Leslie Pearson

Leslie Pearson lives in the US and visited Australia for the first time as a result of a commission for Mountain to Mouth, a ritual of cleansing and renewal where a canoe is built, celebrated and then burnt. Canadian textile artist, Morgen Bardati, spent her childhood years in South Africa. Xhosa, Zulu and other tribal designs inform her work in cloth. Morgen dyes, prints, sews and embellishes. The end result is simple and striking, yet born of complex processes that involve knowledge, experimentation, layers of methodology and acute vision.
